The next Game Fair where we will have our Club Stand is the Living Heritage Hampshire Country Fair over the Bank Holiday weekend - Sunday, 30 April and Monday, 1 May - at Netley Marsh Showground, Southampton, Hampshire SO40 7GY. There is a link to more details here.
For any visitors to the Fair, we will have a few Lagotto with us each day - come and find out about the breed or come to say 'Hi'. You'll find us within the World of Dogs section in one of the Minor Breed tents and also taking part in the Minor Breed displays during the day. We look forward to seeing you there...
We have a new location for our walk on Sunday, 7 May: the stunning Petworth Park in West Sussex (not far from the Surrey/Hampshire borders). After many lovely walks at Frensham Little Pond, we have taken the decision not to return this year because we have heard that Frensham (now National Trust) has imposed a new policy of dogs on leads and no swimming.
We do need to let everyone who is joining us at Petworth know that there are deer in the park so there may be areas where we need to put some dogs on leads at certain times! Dogs are not prevented from going in the water but nor do they encourage the ponds to be used specifically for dogs to swim in – so we may need to have some restraint on numbers and noise around the pond at any one time. We will all need to be responsible for our own dog(s) but having visited to check out the venue, we’re sure it will be a fantastic walk amongst stunning surroundings.
Timing remains the same: Meet time of 1045 for an 1100 startMeet location: Petworth Park car park off the A283 (post code: GU28 9LR). There is a charge of £3 per day for parking/free to National Trust members
Huge congratulations to Lyn and Jeff Monk with Flora (Grancanna Cantata) who, having completed a season beating on a commercial shoot in Kent, were placed 4th in the AOV Sporting Spaniel Best Bitch class for working gundogs at Crufts. Lyn and Flora have trained with us on our sessions so we look forward to seeing them, and Jeff, again. Something for the rest of us to aim for...!
