My Occhi gained his TD (Tracking Dog Title) last year and we entered our first trial for the season a couple of weeks back (heading into winter here so no snakes thankfully), it was a Test 4 1000 metre track 1 hour old in the Bush at Haddon Victoria (near Ballarat), Occhi nailed the first three legs and two corners with perfection and speed, too much in fact for the Judge who instructed the STeward to call me off, though I hate to slow down such enthusiasim I know I have to especially in the Bush, when the Judge caught up and we got going again, I spotted a mob of Roos moving through the bush and when Occhi got into the vicinity of where they had been he started darting here there and everywhere, tracklayer eventually found, no pass but plenty of potential. So this weekend gone I went back to the same area near Ballarat and the club that trains in this STate forest layed another track for me, again the speed and energy but I tried as much as possible to hold Occhi back, apparently an acute turn was also put in and he took it superbly, he had me in and out of trees/bushes, handling was not pretty at all but a very exhilerating track, nothing like being on the end of a keen tracking dog powering along, they love it and so do I.
